completed drawing erased from hard drive
« on: May 18, 2012, 08:26:38 AM »

Work on a drawing on & off all day, saving regularly to the same file.  Drawing is done, click close (red dot), it asks to "save, cancel, don't save".  I click "Save", it looks like it saves, but the file is gone from the Finder & hard drive. I default save "in progress" drawings to the desktop.

I've been mostly bailed out by saving to a USB flash drive backup, but this ain't right.  Any ideas?

Dave

Tried reinstalling TurboCAD, but haven't had time to trouble shoot yet.
Using TurboCad Mac Pro 5.1, build 943 on a Mac Pro Dual running OS X 10.4.11.

Dave,

Welcome to the forum.

The file is most likely stored in an unexpected location and you will need to use Spotlight to find it.

There is a list of recent files at the bottom of the "File" menu item that should show your file if it is turned on. If it's not go to "File" -> "Preferences" -> "Filing" and set the number of files to display and optionally full file paths in the recent files menu.

You can also set up the auto save function while you are here. The Backup file will be found at the path: Users/"home icon"/Library/Application Support/IMSI/TurboCAD v5/Backup. Make an alias of this folder and place it on your Desktop for future reference. Note that this folder will not exist until after a drawing is auto saved.

Enjoy
Mitch
