If I want to print portions of a drawing at full scale, or just on their own and take advantage of page size vs. content it means keeping alternate documents open and moving changes between them.

In other words, you have a drawing that prints to an 11x17 page at 1:12 scale, but you want to print only a portion of it at a 1:1 scale.

I've got that in a separate document and if a change is done it means doing it twice.

Otherwise it seems that changing Page Layout/Setup options all around  and if you have it setup to where the printed area is shown on the window it means a lot of hickory clickory dock in addition to still having to make the change twice.

Any workflow hints / shortcuts for this kind of thing would be nice :)

Select the part/s you want to print then right-click on one them and select "Show only". You should see just the parts you want to print.

Go to Page Layout. If you are also changing paper size then click on "Page Setup" and set paper size. Click "Ok". Back in Page Layout,  click on "Overlay Drawing in Preview", set the scale and click on "Align Center". Click on "Ok". Go to print.
