I just upgraded from TC4 after being frustrated with its import function.
I use Vectorworks and originally tried TC4 because I wanted something simpler and faster, not so.
So I went back to VW2008 figuring I'd wait till an update happened.

I got the Email this morning about the update and figured for $40 I'll try it again.

I'm running an Intel based MacPro with 4 gig of ram, Snow Leopard 10.6.2, mail and safari open, and TC5 runs slower than 4.

This is frustrating, I imported a simple autocad floorplan that Vectorworks imported in about 35 seconds, TC5 ran the progress bars in about 45 seconds, then sat there with a blank drawing screen and the File menu bar highlighted for almost 4 minutes (I timed it), the second time.

The first time I tried it I thought the program hung, I even checked the Mac Dock and it said TC5 was unresponsive, so I force quit it.

For the second try I just left it while I checked the clock every now and then, and it finally put a drawing on the screen. When I tried to manipulate the drawing, or zoom in and out it was SLOOOOOWWWW and you could see it was trying to catch up with something going on in the background.
I haven't changed from the default settings yet, is there something that will speed this up?

On a second note, can the symbols I drop be inserted where the cursor is? This is a pain trying to mark up floorplans if I have to keep going back to the origin to find the symbol.

Any ideas? VW2008 is WAY overkill for what I am trying to do, but I have to import and manipulate AutoCad drawings from architects.

I have noticed the slowdown myself, as the file size grows. I just shut down the other apps, (especially Quicktime/ preview,) and let it crank away. last night, I was almost ready to push the force quit, when the response returned. Johnny
