How do I edit an extrusion?

I extruded a profile 300 inches.  I want to change the 'distance' from 300 to 240 inches.  Since the solid was created using only one parameter (distance 300), my simple mind wants to select the original profile side, type 240 in the 'distance' in the status line and then <enter>.  Nothing happens.

I looked thru the TC4 manual, from p276, there is no mention of editing an extrusion.  What I am I missing?

If the Extrude tool is still active you can change the length of the extrusion in the status line.  However, once this command is cancelled the object becomes a solid and you have to use Offset Face Tool page 339.  Enter the distance in the status line (+or -) and select the face you want to move.  Good luck.
